Summer 2010 Update

Having failed in our attempt to update our site at Christmas, we will try again now.  We are now coming up on our third year in Baltimore (in two months). The house is now a bit more adjusted to our tastes, we know our way around Baltimore and even where strawberries and blueberries are grown, and we even managed to make it up to New York City once (a 4 hour drive). Still haven’t made it to the beach, though. The thought of all that traffic on the Chesapeake bridges is just too daunting.

News? No major news. Iris has had a respite from writing the Grant-A-Month and can relax a bit for a year. (The bad part is that the lab is now obligated to publish 15 papers next year). Chuck finished up with the Portland Art Museum and will be working with the American Visionary Art Museum to put together a proposal to digitize their collection in the next few months. Lianna is still at Tulane collecting honors as a creative writing major, and Alex graduated last summer from Ithaca and spent the last nine months delivering pizza and making bagels; we are not sure about his plans for the fall. The cat continues to age gracefully- and at nearly 18, now feels confident enough to go out to sun on the patio. We’ll be celebrating her birthday on the Fourth of July.

Aside from our immediate family, we don’t seem to get as many visitors here in Baltimore as we did in New Orleans, but we did enjoy seeing Sarah and Larry, Cheryl, and Robert and Gretchen this past year. We hope you will consider visiting us in the coming year- there is always room, and the yard is quite pastoral at this time of year (again, see picture) - and now, we have a chaise lounge and a full crop of mint for juleps. (and if you come for the Fourth of July, there is the cat’s birthday party!)
