Really For Sale
May 2008
Well the news is that our New Orleans house IS now officially up for sale (and has been for over a month). So if y’all are interested in a 4600 sq ft gorgeous turn-of-the-century house with wonderful light and location, call Letty at Latter and Blum (504- 866-2785). We really, really miss living in this comfortable old house- it was perfect for raising our kids, for entertaining, and even just for us two. Lianna is still in New Orleans, having finished her first year at Tulane, and Alex will be spending the summer there doing an internship. He will graduate from Ithaca College in one year.
Baltimore is growing on us. We really like the architecture, the jazz stations (especially 88.9 “the Voice of the Community”) and the variety of festivals and other municipal oddities. The winter weather was not bad at all, and the abundance of flowering trees this spring are new for us and quite spectacular. We’ve been going to plays at Centre Stage, and heading down to DC for other concerts (and the Cherry Blossom Festival). This summer we plan to explore the Chesapeake area great outdoors. Iris is very happy at the University of Maryland and wishes she could have been at a real university years earlier, while Chuck is finding the commute to DC somewhat long. We are still searching for a house to buy in Baltimore but the subprime mortgage crisis seems to have stalled home sellers and we see few new houses coming up in the areas we are interested in. While there are many unattractive homes that are fairly cheap now, the only houses we like are still way out of our price range. All those Hopkins doctors are buying them, I guess. Well, eventually we will buy something- and meanwhile our NOLA house will sell (we sure wish we could hang on to this for ten years, when after a little renovation and growth in the city it will undoubtedly be worth a cool million). When we do buy a house that has room for guests, we hope you will visit!
